Many of you don’t know it but Santa Claus is a business man, the magic of delivering gifts to millions of kids in one night actually has a business model attached to it. His been running a successful business since the A.D’s, so I reckon we should all learn from him.
DEMAND: So every winter the north pole is flooded with letters from overly excited kids, naughty or nice; business is business. This part of the Santa’s business model is the demand part, demand refers to how much (quantity) of a product or service is desired by buyers. In this case, the product or service is the gift requested by children.
SUPPLY: Supply represents how much the market can offer. The quantity supplied refers to the amount of a certain good producers are willing to supply when receiving a certain price. Price you ask? Yes Santa does get paid; remember the main reason your going into to business is to get paid, but we’ll get into this later. There are 2.2 billion children in the world! He and the elves have to manufacture and supply 2.2 billion children, that’s why he only shows up once a year, January – November is dedicated to manufacturing the gifts that needs to be supplied in December.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: OK this is where Santa makes all his money, actually this is where most business make their money; but most people have no clue. Successful transactions of goods and services is not where the money is made; the money is made with your ability to successfully satisfy your customer consistently. It is simple if you have no customers, you have no business. This is where Santa thrives, he has an uncanny ability to satisfy his customers. Imagine delivering billions of gifts to billions of children in different time zones before Christmas morning, its inexplicable.
GETTING PAID: Alright the part we’ve all been waiting for, the part that’s probably driven half my readers to insanity(READERS: Me, Parents, Girlfriend, & Sisters) , how the hell does Santa get paid?? Santa lives in the North Pole ; a resolute Arctic village with elves running around like headless chickens. Basically the guy owns the damn place, physical paper money has no value over there. The way success is measured in the North-pole is by weight, weight I tell you Santa weights about 500 lbs which makes him the richest guy in the North-pole. He weights 500 lbs thanks to all the Milk and Cookies we leave him; gin and fried chicken in my house. All the goodies your leaving for Santa is actually payment for his great work.
